CHEM 651 Advanced Instrumental Applications Credit 3 This capstone course will help students to transition from theoretical description of instrumental methods to its practical selection and use, with special emphasis on selection of instrumentation, methods development, sample preparation, and adaptation procedures published in the literature to specific needs of student’s graduate research. Students will become familiar with laboratory methods used by faculty members in the Department to conduct measurements required for the research project of each student individually. The course is 3 credits, of which part time is designated to laboratory work. Meetings are in classroom once a week, and in the lab for the rest of course hours. Prerequisite(s): CHEM 212 and CHEM 421
