EDSP 422 Psycho-educational Assessment II

Credit 3
This course is the second of two three-credit courses in assessment. It provides in-depth instruction relative to the comprehensive psycho-educational process as it is used to identify the educational strengths and deficits of students with disabilities at the elementary and secondary levels. The development, administration, interpretation, and application of psycho-educational testing batteries, using both informal and formal assessment instruments, are emphasized. Norm-referenced, criterion-referenced, and curriculum-based assessment measures are examined, with an emphasis on statewide assessment procedures. Use of the results to plan instruction is also presented. This course has an emphasis on assessment in the areas of oral language, reading, written language, and mathematics. Skills related to the professional presentation and reporting of results are developed. Students develop a comprehensive case study and an individualized education plan as part of this course, which also includes a required clinical experience. This course is taken concurrently with EDSP 402 , EDSP 403 , and PSYC 406 . Prerequisite(s): Teacher Candidacy Status and a “C” or better in EDSP 414 .
