This course is an overview of the field of counseling, providing knowledge of the historical and philosophical foundations of counseling and their implications for professional practice. Professional activities and ethical practices of counselors and other helping professionals in both educational and non-educational settings are explored.  Exploration of how personal values interact and impact upon counseling are examined.
