BIOL 301 Microbiology

This course examines the basic life processes of various microscopic organisms and their relevance to humans, focusing on pathogenicity. Discussion also encompasses chemotherapy and the immune response to infection. The course provides an introduction to the study of microorganisms and their diversity, growth, life cycle, physiology and control. The role of microorganisms in diseases, the environment and industry, as well as other economic considerations. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 112  or equivalent (grade of C or better); one year of Chemistry, or permission of the instructor. This course is comprised of three hours of lecture per week.
