BIOL 462 General Parasitology

Credit 4
The identification of parasites common to man and domesticated animals is the primary focus of this course. Epidemiological aspects of zoonotic diseases are discussed. Other subjects to be covered are host habitats, vectors, types of hosts, and transmission methods, life cycles, and control and prevention measures. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 111  (grade of C or higher); and BIOL 112 (grade of C or higher); or consent of the instructor. A course in Invertebrate Zoology is recommended. This course is comprised of three hours of lecture and one four-hour laboratory per week. Laboratory fee required.
