ENVS 202 General Oceanography

This is a survey course of the physical and chemical processes associated with the ocean environment. Topics discussed include earth history and ocean basin evolution, global plate tectonics, the marine provinces, the chemistry of sea water, air-sea interaction, oceanic control of climate, oceanic sediments, major currents, waves, tides, water column stratification, deep-sea research, coastal and estuarine processes, and marine resources.
