EDSP 442 Teaching Internship in Special Education (Elementary)

Credit 6
This seven (7) or eight (8) week clinical internship involves teaching students with disabilities in an elementary setting at a Professional Development School. Students are expected to gradually assume the duties and responsibilities of a special education teacher, which include the following: planning, instruction, assessment, curriculum adaptation, classroom management, communication, and evaluation. The student has the opportunity, under the direction and guidance of a university supervisor and a professional mentor, to refine skills and to develop professional expertise. This course is taken concurrently with EDSP 400  and EDSP 450 . Prerequisite(s): Admission to Teacher Internship. This includes passing the PRAXIS II Tests for special education.
