MUSI 102 Music Theory and Application ICredit 4 This course is a study of the materials and basic stylistic elements of music. Skills in ear-training, sight-singing, melodic dictation, and intervallic and triadic recognition are developed. Through original composition and analysis of music literature, students are introduced to basic techniques of melody-writing, counterpoint, harmony, form, and orchestration. Courses must be taken sequentially. Three hours lecture and two hours laboratory per week. Prerequisite: MUSI 132 with a minimum grade of C, or consent of the instructor.
