EDTE 451 Historical Philosophies and Current Trends of Career and Technology Education

Credit 3
This course will provide an overview of historical trends, philosophies, principles, and sociological underpinnings of career and technology education. Topics to be explored include developing an understanding of current CTE trends and policies nationally and across Maryland, career clusters and programs, historical developments leading to present day CTE, CTE for learners of all backgrounds and abilities, the impact of legislation federally and in Maryland, administrative structures, the role of CTE in promoting democratic and societal ideals, and foundational philosophies that influence CTE.
