MUSI 201 HarmonyCredit 3 This course is a continuation of harmonic principles introduced in MUSI 102 and MUSI 103, with emphasis placed upon the study of harmonic progressions, figured bass realization, modulation, and altered chords, as practiced in the eighteenth century. Some composition in small forms is required. Analysis of eighteenth and nineteenth century literature is included, with an introduction to twentieth century harmonic practices. Prerequisite(s): MUSI 103 with minimum grade of C or consent of Instructor. Three hours lecture-laboratory per week.
